Forbes has compiled a ranking of the highest-paid bloggers on the YouTube platform. The rating leaders can boast of income, the amount of which exceeds $ 20 million per year. However, some of them are still children. In fact, the leader of the rating (just a 9-year-old child) earned almost $ 30 million. In total, the TOP-10 most YouTube bloggers were able to earn about $ 211 million.
When compiling the rating, bloggers were selected for whom YouTube is the main source of income. The publication includes the amount of “gross income” – excluding tax payments, fees to agents, managers, lawyers, support teams, etc. The income estimate is approximate. It is based on Captiv8, SocialBlade and Pollstar’s metrics and data from experts on the YouTube platform.
As in previous years, English-language content for children and young audiences generates the most significant income, especially if the videos are entertaining and charismatic actors.
For the third year in a row, 9-year-old boy Ryan Kaji remains the leader of the highest-paid bloggers’ ranking on the YouTube platform. Compared to last year, he almost doubled the audience of subscribers (up to 41.7 million), but the revenue growth was not so significant ($ 29.5 million versus $ 26 million). The reason for this may be the drop in revenue on the platform this spring, caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Although in the future, bloggers’ income recovered. Note that YouTube is just a launching pad for Ryan’s growing popularity and brand development. A significant portion of his business deals with licensing deals for more than 5,000 Ryan’s World products, from bedroom decor and figurines to masks and walkie-talkies. The corresponding branded products are sold in the US chains Target, Amazon and Walmart. Last year, the turnover from the sale of such goods amounted to about $ 200 million. The amount of license fees has not been specified. Also, the Ryan family has a whole network of channels.
Jimmy Donaldson burst into second place with Mr Beast, who earned $ 24 million in a year. Many of his videos have a similar plot – he donates money to streamers on Twitch or provides charitable assistance. But he also has entertainment content, such as a video in which he counts to 100,000 or tries to break glass with hundreds of megaphones.
The Dude Perfect channel, which publishes videos about sports stunts, has dropped to the third line of the rating. This activity has earned the authors $ 23 million – more than last year.
The top ten highest-paid YouTube bloggers of 2021 are as follows:
- Ryan’s World (41.7M subscribers, 12.2B views, $ 29.5M revenue)
- Mr. Beast (47.8 million subscribers, 3 billion views, $ 24 million in revenue)
