SBU exposed hackers who stole personal data from users’ computers

The Security Service of Ukraine blocked the illegal activities of a group of persons in the Lviv region, which carried out DDos attacks on information resources.

Cybersecurity specialists of the SBU have found that hackers developed and used malware to infect computers and then obtain personal data. Subsequently, the cybercriminals disseminated the received information through closed channels in the Telegram messenger. This is information that cybercriminals have stolen from Internet users during unauthorized interference with computers and mobile devices.

During investigative actions at the place of residence of the defendants in the case, law enforcement officers found and seized computer equipment and samples of malicious software. Several defendants were informed of suspicion in the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 361 (unauthorized interference in the operation of electronic computers (computers), automated systems, computer networks or telecommunication networks) and Part 2 of Art. 361-1 (creation for the purpose of using, distributing or selling malicious software or hardware, as well as their distribution or sale) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions are ongoing.
