Samsung Electronics, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, unveiled the Exynos 2100 processor at the Exynos On 2021 virtual event. The new product is the first premium mobile chip with 5G integration, based on the latest 5nm process using ultraviolet photolithography (EUV) technology.
Exynos 2100: What we know so far!
The new chip’s computing and graphics processing efficiency has been refined and refined to exceed the expectations of even the most demanding users. The Exynos 2100 is Samsung’s first flagship mobile processor with 5G integration based on the industry-leading 5nm EUV process. It can reduce power consumption by 20% or improve overall performance by 10% over the previous 7nm model. Also, the new chip offers improved cache memory usage. The octa-core CPU features an improved tri-cluster architecture with one powerful Arm® Cortex®-X1 core clocked up to 2.9GHz, three high-performance Cortex-A78s, and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55s for more than 30 percent increase in processing power multi-core processors compared to its predecessor.
Arm Mali -G78 supports the latest APIs such as Vulkan and OpenCL. It boosts graphics performance by over 40 percent for eye-catching, fluid graphics, delivering the most immersive mobile experience, including AR, VR, and mixed reality games and apps. Advanced Multi-IP Address Management (AMIGO) technology optimizes CPU, GPU, and other power consumption – extending battery life even when performing energy-intensive tasks on the screen. AI capabilities will also be greatly enhanced by the Exynos 2100. The newly developed tri-core neuro processor has improved architecture and reductions in unnecessary operations for highly efficient use. The Exynos 2100 can perform up to 26 Trillion Operations Per Second (TOPS) with more than double the previous generation’s energy efficiency. With intelligent on-device processing and support for advanced neural networks, users will have access to more interactive and intelligent functions and improved computer vision performance for image processing tasks.
The Advanced Image Processor (ISP) on the Exynos 2100 supports camera resolutions up to 200 megapixels (MP). It can use up to six separate sensors and process information from four of them simultaneously for more varied shooting possibilities. Thanks to the multi-camera and frame processor (MCFP), data from multiple cameras can be used to improve zoom efficiency, improve image quality in ultra-wide-angle images, and more. Faster artificial intelligence helps the device easily recognize scenes, faces, and objects to optimize camera settings for crisp, detailed images.
The 5G modem integrated into the Exynos 2100 supports 5G spectrum and millimeter waves, 2G GSM / CDMA, 3G WCDMA, and 4G LTE networks, which provides reliable network coverage. The maximum downlink speed reaches 5.1 gigabits per second (Gbps) in the range of less than 6 gigahertz (GHz) and 7.35 Gbps in mmWave or 3.0 Gbps in 4G networks with support for 1024 QAM ( 1024-QAM).
The Exynos 2100 is currently in series production.
