Although the anticipated release of the iPhone 15 is still a few months away, early details about next year’s iPhone 16 series have already circulated.
The iPhone 15 Pro will bring significant upgrades, including a new design with rounded edges, a titanium frame, camera enhancements, and a USB-C introduction. However, looking ahead to next year, Apple reportedly plans to increase the screen sizes of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

iPhone 16 Ultra
The iPhone 16 Pro series might adopt the “Ultra” branding, following Apple’s approach with the Apple Watch Ultra last year. According to CAD files shared by Sonny Dixon, the larger iPhone 16 Pro model, potentially named the iPhone 16 Ultra, is expected to feature a screen size of approximately 6.9 inches, accompanied by a substantial increase in overall device dimensions. While the height will be taller, the width is expected only slightly to increase, considering the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s existing challenges in single-handed usage.
These CAD files provide insights into Apple’s plans to enlarge the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro Max while maintaining a form factor similar to its physical predecessor.

Comparison:
iPhone 16 Ultra (approximate measurements)
- Width: 77.2 mm
- Height: 165.0 mm
- Screen size: 6.9 inches
iPhone 15 Pro Max (approximate measurements)
- Width: 76.7 mm
- Height: 159.8 mm
- Screen size: 6.7 inches
Moreover, both Ming-Chi Kuo and the reliable Ross Young have indicated that the smaller model in the lineup will also experience growth. Young suggests the screen size will be approximately 6.3 inches. This expansion will enable Apple to incorporate a periscope zoom lens into the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, a feature that unfortunately won’t be present in this year’s iPhone 15 Pro.
It’s important to note that it is still early in development. While multiple credible sources have confirmed the likelihood of larger displays in the iPhone 16 Pro lineup, it’s crucial to approach this information with caution. With over a year until the iPhone 16 Pro’s release, many details are subject to change, and early reports should be treated skeptically.
