London subway refurbished for PS5 – Sony gracefully decorates stations with traditional PlayStation icons

Especially for the start of the official PS5 sales in the UK, Sony, having previously agreed with Transport for London, transformed some metro stations – signs near the entrance and the stations themselves were decorated from the inside with traditional PlayStation icons (Triangle,).

Oxford Circus, Mile End, Lancaster Gate, Seven Sisters, and West Ham stations received the corresponding themed design, and the last four stations were temporarily renamed, making references to new Sony games: Mile End became Miles End (Miles Morales is the protagonist of the new Spider-Man from Insomniac Games), Lancaster Gate in Ratchet & Clankaster Gate, Seven Sisters in Gran Turismo 7 Sisters, and West Ham in Horizon Forbidden West Ham.

Funnily enough, the Oxford Circus station entrances with stylized signs are located near a major Microsoft store.

The station names have been changed for 48 hours, while the rest of the decorations will remain until December 16. The publication also recalls that this is not the first time Transport for London has allowed corporations to rename stations – Amazon briefly renamed Westminster to Webminster in 2017 to mark its London data center’s launch. Canada Water tube station had also been temporarily renamed Buxton Water for the London Marathon in 2015.

On November 12, PS5 sales began in selected countries and worldwide. The console will be released on November 19.
