Apple released the fourth beta of watchOS 9.5 and tvOS 16.5 to developers on Tuesday, along with iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 beta 4. Although the update comes with general improvements, the highlight of the release is the new sports features.
As per the latest update, Apple has started rolling out the same updates to public beta testers. The iOS 16.5 beta 4 will be available today to registered beta testers. Since the update will be released over the air within the next hour, users can install it by going to the Settings app, selecting General, and then selecting Software Update. The build number for today’s update is 20F5059A.
While the tech giant has shifted attention to iOS 17, which is expected to be unveiled next month at WWDC, there are a few notable changes in iOS 16.5. The update adds new screen recording commands to Siri, which enable users to start or stop screen recording with the virtual assistant. The update also includes a dedicated “Sports” tab in the Apple News app, which has been popular among sports fans.
Apple is expected to release iOS 16.5 to the general public sometime in May. A new public beta will be released today as the company continues beta testing ahead of this general release. Along with iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 beta 4, Apple is also releasing the following new developer betas: watchOS 9.5 beta 4, tvOS 16.5 beta 4, macOS Ventura 13.4 beta 4, and macOS Monterey 12.6.6 beta.
