Install macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox on Windows
Before installing macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox on a Windows PC, ensure that virtualization is enabled on your system. Here is a video tutorial for the same.
Step 1: Download the required files

Step 2: Download and Install VirtualBox on a Windows PC
Once you have downloaded VirtualBox from the above links. Double-click on the installation file and proceed with the installation.
Step 3: Install & Update VirtualBox Extension
Go to the VirtualBox download page.
Under VirtualBox Extension Pack, click on the Accept and Download button.
Once downloaded, double-click on it to install.
Step 4. Create a New Virtual Machine of macOS High Sierra
To start with, you will need to create a new virtual machine. Therefore, follow each step to easily install macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox on a Windows PC.
- Open VirtualBox and click New.
- Enter the virtual machine name and select the type as macOS. Also, select the suitable version, macOS 10.13 High Sierra (64-bit).
- Under ISO Image: Click on the downward arrow, and then click Others, now locate your macOS High Sierra ISO file.
- Base Memory: 8 GB is recommended
- Processors: Set the number of processors to 4
- Under Hard Disk: Increase the Hard Disk file size to 40 GB.
Once done, click on the Finish button.

- Click on Settings, which is located at the center of the top of this VirtualBox.
- Go to Display and under Video Memory, increase the size up to 128 MB
- Click Network and then personalize the network settings as shown below.
Step 6. Add VirtualBox Commands to CMD
- Open the VirtualBox code file that you downloaded above using Notepad. Now, replace the VM Title with the actual Virtual machine name. Once done, press Ctrl+A to select the entire set of codes and then press Ctrl+C to copy them.
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator. You can press Windows key + R and type ‘CMD’. Right-click on CMD and click Run as administrator.
- Now, paste the codes using Ctrl+V. You can also press the right-click on your mouse to paste the commands.

Step 7. Install macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox
- Again, open VirtualBox and click on the Start button.
- When you start your Virtual Machine, a series of codes will appear on the screen, but there is no need to be concerned about them. Wait for a few minutes, and you should soon see the Language window for macOS High Sierra.
- After around 8-10 minutes, you will see the Apple logo.
- Select your Language and click on the Proceed arrow.
- Click Disk Utility and click on Continue.
- Click on View, and then click Show All Devices.
- Select VBOX HARDDISK Media from the left panel and click on the Erase button.
- Keep the following and click Erase.
- Name: techrechard.com
- Format: Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)
- Scheme: GUID Partition MAP
- Once completed, close the Disk Utility window.
- Now, from macOS Utilities, click “Install macOS” and then click “Continue.”
At this stage, you might encounter the following error: This copy of the ‘Install macOS High Sierra’ application is damaged and can’t be used to install macOS.
NOTE: The ISO file is definitely not faulty or corrupt!
- Click OK, then go to Utilities and click on Terminal.
- Disconnect your Internet.
- Then, type ‘date’ and press Enter. You will see the current date as shown below.
- Now type: date 102523382016 and press Enter.
- You will notice that your current date has been updated to 2016. Now close your Terminal.
- From macOS Utilities, select “Install macOS” and click Continue.
- Select your Hard Drive (techrechard.com) and click Install.
- Click Continue, and your installation of macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox will begin.
Now, this will take a while, and then you will see the welcome screen. For me, it took around 30 minutes.
Your virtual machine might restart several times, so do not panic.
Step 7. Setting up macOS High Sierra on VirtualBox
After several restarts, your virtual machine will finally boot into macOS High Sierra.
