Imagine accessing your favorite Android apps—like Instagram, WhatsApp, or even mobile games—directly on your Windows PC. While Windows 11 introduced limited Android app support via the Amazon App Store, the Google Play Store on Windows remains the holy grail for many users. Google’s ecosystem offers a wider app selection, seamless updates, and integration with services like Drive and Gmail. However, Microsoft doesn’t officially support the Play Store, leaving users to rely on workarounds.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to sideload the Google Play Store on Windows 11 using a modified version of the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). This method unlocks the full potential of Android apps on your PC, bypassing restrictions and delivering a near-native experience. Whether you’re a developer testing apps, a gamer craving mobile titles on a bigger screen, or a productivity enthusiast, this step-by-step tutorial will transform your Windows device into a versatile Android-compatible machine.

Previously, we shared this guide: How to run any Android app in Windows 11. But, we have an easy and updated method on how you can run any Android app using Google Play Store on Windows.
Step-by-Step Guide to Install Google Play Store on Windows
1. Prepare Your System
a. Uninstall Existing Android Subsystems
- Why? The Amazon App Store and the default Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) conflict with Google Play Services.
- Steps:
- Open the Start Menu, search for Windows Subsystem for Android.
- Right-click it and select Uninstall. Confirm the action.

b. Verify System Requirements
Your PC must meet these criteria for the Google Play Store on Windows to work:
- OS: Windows 11 Version 22H2 (Build 22621.2428 or newer).
- RAM: 8 GB minimum (16 GB recommended for smoother performance).
- Processor: Intel Core i3 8th Gen or AMD Ryzen 3000 series (or newer).
- Virtualization: Enabled in BIOS/UEFI (check via Task Manager > Performance > CPU).

To Enable Virtualization:
- Search for Turn Windows features on or off in the Start Menu.

- Check Virtual Machine Platform and click OK. Restart your PC.

2. Download the Modified WSA Build
- Why? Microsoft’s default WSA lacks Google Play Services. Modified builds integrate them seamlessly.
- Steps:
- Visit the WSA Builds GitHub page.
- Scroll down to the Downloads section, click on the Download Latest Stable Builds depending on the version of your Windows and matching your PC’s architecture (x64 or ARM64).

- Under Releases, select the latest Stable Build. You can select from the ones shown below depending on your requirements. I will download the one with:
– Amazon App Store Included
– Contains Google Play Store and Services
– Contains Magisk Stable (for Root Access)

- Download the ZIP file from the Assets section (~700 MB).
3. Extract and Configure the WSA Files
- Steps:
- Extract the downloaded ZIP.

- Open the extracted folder and locate
Run.bat.

4. Install WSA and Google Play Store
- Steps:
- Right-click
Run.batand click Run As Administrator to launch the installer. - Click Yes when prompted by User Account Control (UAC).
- A PowerShell window will automate the installation of WSA and Google Play Services. Wait 5–10 minutes.
- Right-click

5. Set Up the Google Play Store
- Steps:
- After installation, the Google Play Store will open automatically.

- Sign in with your Google account and accept the terms of service.

6. Sideload Apps (Optional)
- For Apps Not on the Play Store:
- Download APK files from trusted sources like APKMirror.
- Open Windows Subsystem for Android.

- Go to Advanced Settings and click on Experimental Features. Enable Share User Folders and Local Network Access.

- Once done, right-click on the Taskbar and go to Task Manager. Select Windows Subsystem for Android and right-click to End Task.

- Open Windows Subsystem for Android again.
- Go to the System section and open the Files app.

- Click on Subsystem for Android and then click on Windows.

- You will find all the downloaded APK files in the respective folder. (For me, I downloaded the files to the desktop, so my desktop folder will look like below)

- Click the APK you want to install and choose package installer if it asks. Agree to the warnings and then click install.

Note: If you're facing problems, try disabling Block installation of malicious apps in the WSA app.

Testing the Google Play Store on Windows
- Install popular apps like Aptoide or Spotify to test functionality.
- Games like Among Us or Candy Crush should run smoothly if your hardware meets the requirements.
