The sensor for the main wide-angle module in the iPhone 12 Pro Max “dwarfs the iPhone 12”, its dimensions are approximately 47% larger. However, it has the same resolution of 12 megapixels. It is also noted that the sensor-shift image stabilization system (which is also used in many digital SLR cameras) also helps to increase the size of the main camera.

The big smartphone got a big battery. The L-shaped battery in the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the largest of any iPhone in the current lineup. Its capacity is 14.13 Wh. For comparison, the iPhone 12 mini has 8.57 Wh, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro has 10.78 Wh. But iFixit notes that this is not a record capacity for the iPhone. The iPhone 11 Pro Max used a battery with a capacity of 15.04 Wh.

Having disassembled the device into individual components, iFixit experts assigned the new Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max a repairability rating of 6 out of 10. Note that the maximum score of 10 corresponds to the most easily repairable devices. Thus, the model in question is relatively well repairable. However, it is noted that the display and battery are easy to replace. Most of the components are modular and easy to replace. Some unusual screws complicate the whole repair, but reusable fasteners are preferable to glue. Waterproofing helps protect internal components but makes repairs more difficult. The glass back panel will require a complete replacement of the case if the smartphone is unsuccessfully dropped.
