Huawei, despite all the bans and spoke in the wheels that the US government has put in it, continues to pursue its plans to release smartphones. And next in line – the flagship devices Mate 40 Series.

Let’s start with the technical parameters of the devices, since four smartphones were presented at once:

As you can see, from the point of view of hardware, the new Huawei flagships meet all the requirements of 2020. They use top-end OLED displays with a frequency of 90 Hz, the most powerful 5-nm Kirin chipsets with 5G support (by the way, the latest Kirin chips, at least for the near future), premium body materials (artificial leather, glass or ceramics), there is the necessary set of wireless interfaces.

And, of course, cameras. The main module in all devices is a 50 MP Ultra Vision sensor. In the more top-end Mate 40 Pro Plus and Mate 40 RS, this module also boasts optical stabilization. In addition, the Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro have super-wide and a telephoto or periscope. And the Mate 40 Pro Plus and Mate 40 RS are generally a mobile photographer’s dream, because there is super-wide, telephoto, and periscope. The latter two are with optical stabilization and provide 3x and 10x optical zoom, respectively.

The Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro are available in five colors at once: silver, white and black with a glass back, and green and yellow with a faux leather back. The Mate 40 Pro Plus and Mate 40 RS are only available in ceramic in white or black.

Of the interesting features, I note the support for contactless gestures, moisture protection (IP53 for the Mate 40 and IP68 for the older models), the screens have rounded sides, the fingerprint scanner is integrated into the display, and there are stereo speakers. And all this technical perfection crosses out one drawback – the lack of Google services.

The cost of the presented novelties is as follows:

  • Mate 40 – € 899
  • Mate 40 Pro – € 1199
  • Mate 40 Pro Plus – € 1399
  • Mate 40 Pro RS Porsche Design – € 2295
