Apple’s newest iOS 16 update will include an excellent feature for those who own AirPods. The function takes listening to music to another level by tracking the position of your ears and using Dolby Atmos technology, so you’ll sound like the music is all around you.

The announcement of a new iOS update has been interesting. Here is how Apple describes it:

Personalized surround sound immerses you in listening to audio even more and more accurately. You’ll be able to use the TrueDepth camera on your iPhone to create a personal profile for surround sound that will be customized for you.

The next AirPods model (AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max) will give you the ability to customize sound on your ears by scanning your face (with TrueDepth camera) and ears with iOS 16. This feature is only available for iOS 16 and is not compatible with the iPad.

Dolby Atmos technology has improved with the new face-scanning option. Some songs come with spatial sound and will sound better than before.

With the new personalized surround sound function of AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro, there is no problem with “echo” in songs.

The new feature will be available for general testing to public beta testers of iOS 16 next month. The final release is expected to be in the fall.
