Believe it or not, Windows 95 works great that way, at least on the MacBook Pro. If you want to plunge into nostalgia and play with the operating system, which is almost 20 years old, with its legendary programs (Windows Explorer, MSDOS, Windows Paint, Notepad, Minesweeper, Internet Explorer), it is straightforward to do this.

  1. Go to this Github page and download the program for Mac (the file is called windows95-1-macos.zip).
  2. Unload the windows95.zip file as usual.
  3. Run windows95.app as a regular program to start Windows 95 right away.

The archive weighs about 135MB, and the entire Windows 95 application is only 450MB.
