Owners of next-generation Samsung flagship smartphones may have an additional option to unlock their devices. The Korean company is reportedly working on Bixby Voice, which will be part of the One UI 3.1 shell based on Android 11. Bixby Voice will debut on the Galaxy S21 line of smartphones and later become available on other devices.
There are no details yet on exactly how Bixby Voice works. Therefore, questions arise about how safe this unlocking method is compared to a fingerprint scanner and user face recognition. The level of reliability of voice unlocking may be comparable to the face recognition function, which uses only the front camera (without additional sensors, like FaceID on the iPhone). And if, in the latter case, sometimes it is enough to bring a user’s photo to unlock the device, then maybe Bixby Voice will be enough for the user’s voice recording.
In any case, we will find out more information soon – according to rumors, the Galaxy S21 flagship line’s presentation will take place in January at the traditional Samsung presentation.
