Apple has received a new patent related to Face ID. The patent details next-generation face recognition technology that uses thermal facial imaging. It is also known that it will be tough to cheat the new version of the technology.
The main disadvantage of existing technologies is that glasses, face masks, and even hair potentially interfere with the authentication process. Fortunately, the new patent description states that the next-generation facial recognition system will use heat from users’ faces.
This means that each person’s unique thermal signature will be used to unlock Apple devices in the future.
