The iOS 14.5 update (available to beta testers) brought quite a lot of innovation. Specifically, the Apple Maps app now allows users to report various incidents, speed traps, and obstacles they find along the way.
The new feature works similarly to reports in Google Maps and Waze. It is enough to click on the Report button in the bottom tray and indicates the type of incident or obstacle. Moreover, all this can be done using Siri. I must say, “Hey Siri, there’s an accident,” and the voice assistant will send a report. The function also works in CarPlay mode.
By comparison, more detailed reports can be sent to Google Maps. For example, you can indicate that a car has stopped on the road or is undergoing repairs. Apple may also expand the types of reports over time.
