Apple has just released the new iOS 15.6.1 for iPhone and iPad users. The release notes do not list what has been improved other than to say it is “recommended for all users.“

The latest build number of iOS on iPhones is 19G82 and can be updated by going to Settings, selecting General, and then selecting Software Update. The iPadOS on iPad only needs the same process to update. Apple also released iOS 16 Beta 6 and iPadOS 16 Beta 6
iOS 15.6.1 Security Patches
Apple has announced that iOS 15.6.1 fixes two significant vulnerabilities, both actively exploited and available on all iPhones & iPads running on iOS 15.
The first vulnerability could allow an application to execute arbitrary code with administrative rights.
The second vulnerability was WebKit, a browser engine that supports Safari and all third-party iOS browsers. In connection with this vulnerability, Apple reports that “the processing of malicious web content can lead to the execution of arbitrary code.”

Should I upgrade to iOS 15.6.1?
All iOS/iPadOS users are urged to upgrade their software to version 15.6.1 as soon as possible to protect themselves from vulnerabilities available in previous versions. All you have to do is go into Settings, select General, and then select Software Update.
WatchOS 8.7.1, macOS Monterey 12.5.1
Apple today released new updates for all its operating systems-iOS 15.6.1, MacOS 12.5.1, and watchOS 8.7.1-with a bug fix.
The release notes state that this update fixes a bug that could cause the Apple Watch Series 3 to reboot unexpectedly for some users. This update is only available for the Series 3 model, meaning that the Series 1 and 2 models are not eligible.
Based on Apple’s updated website, which outlines recent software changes, it is clear that watchOS 8.7.1 only fixes a bug and doesn’t introduce any other modifications. The software updates for iOS (currently on 15.6.1) and macOS (currently on 12.5.1) have security fixes.
